White Mountain National Forest, NH. | This was a photo from my first backpacking trip in 2021 – my friends and I had just finished the first of what would be three peaks that day, and I wanted to savor the feeling of accomplishment and excitement with a great view. That trip pushed me beyond what I thought I could do, both physically and mentally, and while it wasn’t always pleasant (bugs and a bad knee weren’t the best!) I look back on this trip fondly, knowing that it proved I can do just about anything.
Kat believes that everyone has the right to forge their own path in life. She sees the power in telling the story of self and seeks to provide youth a chance to explore and unpack their stories in safe spaces, with mentors who believe in and support them.
Prior to joining Summer Search, Kat worked for the Boston-based NGO South Africa Partners as a program assistant, and with the Public Higher Education Network of Massachusetts (PHENOM). She graduated from UMass Amherst with a BA in Social Thought and Political Economy.
Outside of the office, Kat can be found running, biking, singing, and eating entirely too much Thai food.
