Diane Pham
She | Her
Community: Bay Area Staff
Position: Post-Secondary Mentor | Bay Area
For Diane, her Summer Search journey began in her sophomore year as a participant. She attended summer experiences with Deer Hill Expeditions and Global Leadership Adventures. Throughout it all, she had the unconditional support from her mentor, one that supported her through all the highs and lows of high school. Diane attended UCLA for undergraduate, pursuing Public Affairs and Education. Both pursuits were influenced by her identities as a second generation Vietnamese American to immigrant and refugee parents, being a first-generation college student, and having impactful adults in her life from K-12 and Summer Search. After earning her Bachelor's, Diane stepped into the classroom and taught 5th grade math with the little ones in the Oakland community. In addition, she has had extensive experience with supporting the Vietnamese community through basic needs initiatives and providing support to high schoolers in a number of nonprofits.
Many years later, a homecoming to Summer Search has arrived. Diane has such a transformative experience with Summer Search as a student that she wanted to come back and be a mentor! Back to where it started, she finds a lot of joy in support her high school seniors and post-secondary students as they navigate changes, challenges, and accomplishments during this transitional time of their life.
Beyond Summer Search, Diane enjoys pouring into her wellness through fitness, writing, exploring new spaces, hosting experiences for family and friends, and traveling.
