Leo Friedman

Leo Friedman

Position: Program Associate

Pronouns: He/Him.

Born and raised in beautiful Seattle, Washington, Leo developed a simultaneous love for inner-city living and for nature at a young age. Combining this with his passion for youth development, he has spent much of his adult life working with young people in the outdoors as a wilderness instructor, farm manager, high school soccer coach, and classroom teacher. In fact, his first exposure to Summer Search was on a backpacking trip he was leading on the Olympic Peninsula, where he was lucky enough to have a Seattle Branch participant on his trip. Fast forward three years, and he is now happily serving the Summer Search mission as part of the Bay Area team.

Alongside his responsibilities at Summer Search, Leo is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration with a focus on Sustainability and Social Justice at Presidio Graduate School. In the rare moments when he’s not working or studying, you can often find him biking the streets of the East Bay or exploring the vast public lands of the West Coast.
