What's good everyone! I'm Elijah Teixeira, and I have been working at Summer Search for a little over a year now. Education has played an important role in my life, and after moving from Boston to NYC, Summer Search has been a great fit for me. I have my BA in Communication from Boston College and my MEd in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from Boston University. I am also Cape-Verdean American (Not many of us in NY lol), love hanging out with my cat and my dog, and I am looking forward to working with you all!

About Me:

Hey Summer Searchers. My name is Jocelyn. I was born and raised in Queens, NY and have been in the Bay Area, California, working at Summer Search since 2015. I have my Masters in School Counseling with a vision to support first-gen individuals find their path. Coming from a big family, community has always been super important to me and I've been fortunate to find that at Summer Search. I love spending time with my friends and family.

Taking my dog hiking, camping or anywhere else I go, baking, cooking, and salsa dancing.

Andrea Diaz

About Me:

I am a Seattle Pacific University alum with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Women’s Studies. My experience attending university as a queer Puerto Rican led me to quickly immerse myself in student-centered circles advocating for institutional equity. My previous role as the Student Support Coordinator for the UW Dream Project deepened my desire to continue supporting young folx with their post-secondary pathways and to continue advocating for racial and class equity within institutions and communities.

About Me:

Jocelyn runs on Dunkin' iced coffee! That is how I manage to be so involved working with seniors and Summer Searchers in college while making time to try new recipes in my kitchen, among other hobbies. I moved to Boston after finishing my Masters in Anthropology and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and am quickly learning the New England way of life. I have a passion for working with students as they transition out of high school and am thrilled to be a part of the Pathways Team working with our older participants too.

Drinking coffee, writing, gardening, sewing, baking, exploring new places, hiking.

About Me:

I am a lifelong greater Boston area resident. I graduated from Boston University with a Bachelors in International Relations and have spent over 3 years supporting and empowering young people to achieve their goals for the future.I'm excited to be able to continue supporting students at all ages and stages of life through Pathways. When not working, you can find me creating an unofficial ranking of all the bubble tea shops in the Boston area.

About Me:

Hey, Summer Searchers! My name is MJ and I have been working at Summer Search for almost 4 years. I've spent much of my life as an educator, activist and social justice advocate, and I'm deeply committed to support marginalized students in education and folks impacted by oppressive systems. Before coming to Summer Search, I coordinated LGBTQ youth programming at Youth Uprising in deep East Oakland. I have my MFA in Poetry from Mills College, hold an MA in Student Development Administration from Seattle University, and a BA in Sociology from Sonoma State University. Most importantly, I have a beautiful 4-and-a-half year old son, Glory!

Interests & Hobbies:

Poetry, creative writing, music (playing and listening), boxing, and hiking/outdoor adventure.
