Even though it’s officially fall, we wanted to throw it back to a few (of so many) great moments from our 2018 summer travel season.
So, in case you missed it (ICYMI), here are some photos of our Summer Searchers who traveled all over the country and world to participate in empowering and inspiring experiences. Thanks to all of our amazing Summer Partners and supporters for making these opportunities possible.
Global Leadership Adventures
Seattle students on an all-Summer-Search program with Global Leadership Adventures (GLA) in the Dominican Republic. Read more about this trip on the GLA blog.
Amigos de las Americas
Through Amigos de las Americas, Summer Searchers from across the network participated in service experiences abroad in places like the Dominican Republic (left) and Costa Rica (right).
Northwest Outward Bound School
Our partners at Northwest Outward Bound School led a crew of Summer Searchers on a backpacking journey in North Cascades National Park in Washington.
Global Routes
From New Hampshire to the Caribbean to the Himalayas, our summer partner Global Routes took our students all over the world.
Go Adventure
Go Adventure provided a wide range of experiences for our students this summer, such as a 21-day backpacking journey around Point Reyes National Seashore in California (top photos), and a brand new 14-day Social Justice Tour spanning Boston, Washington DC, and New York (bottom photos).
Global Glimpse
Here’s more from the Dominican Republic, this time thanks to Global Glimpse! Our students participated in several service projects for the local communities — they helped restore a nearby park, worked as English tutors, and built a stable for the livestock at a coffee plantation. You can read more on the Global Glimpse blog.
VISIONS Service Adventures
This is a group of rising high school seniors on an all-Summer-Search experience in Montana with VISIONS Service Adventures. Along the way, a new traveler was added to the group — they found a stray puppy during the program, which was then adopted by the trip leader and they got to carry the adorable dog around on the rest of their trip!
Deer Hill Expeditions
Here are a few great shots of Summer Searchers on wilderness and service experiences with Deer Hill Expeditions. One group backpacked in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains and another rafted 84 miles through the Desolation and Gray Canyons on the Green River in Utah! In fact, we featured a Bay Area student who went on that River and Service Quest in our previous blog post.
Plus, Deer Hill even provided a unique opportunity for several members of our Bay Area staff to join a wilderness trip in Colorado (see below)!

In closing, we want to congratulate our students on their incredible accomplishments in completing these challenging summer experiences. And, we want to say THANK YOU to all of our summer partners and to all of our mentoring staff, program managers, on-call specialists, and all the local and national staff involved in the lead up to this summer and support throughout the travel season. We know this is a summer that won’t soon be forgotten!
