Second Annual Mt. Tamalpais Pre-Trip Hike

Every Summer Searcher has heard it, every staff member has said it, and it is a reoccurring statement throughout the spring as the Summer Search students prepare for their trips: “Break in your boots!”

Recently, students, staff and donors got a chance to use their boots and social skills to connect with each other at the Second Annual Mt. Tamalpais Pre-Trip Hike on June 26th. Sophomores, Juniors, alumni, mentors, and donors gathered to enjoy one of the most beautifully diverse landscapes that Northern California has to offer. Beginning near the top of Mt. Tam they trekked down to the beach, socializing and eating sandwiches generously supplied by our trek leader and supporter, Sy Kaufman. The entire group then hiked all the way back up to the beginning of the trailhead, embodying the true “never quit” Summer Search character. Even more amazing than the resilience of our group was the instant sense of connection felt between students and supporters. In a combined effort they made it from the ocean to the top of the mountain, proving that the strong spirit prevalent in Summer Search’s newest members can conquer all obstacles!
